Humble Beginnings
The genesis of the Armstrong Relocation family
of companies can be traced back to 1922 along the banks of the mighty
Mississippi River in Memphis, Tennessee, when Armstrong Transfer and Storage
Company was first established. Armstrong became an agent for United Van Lines in 1947, the year United
was inaugurated.
Dramatic Growth
In 1957, Clyde Springer and James L. Watson, brothers-in-law, acquired Armstrong using a
small loan from a friend. At that time, the company had two employees and two trucks. As a
result of a relentless pursuit of quality from day one and a lot of hard work over the
years, Armstrong has expanded from that first location in Memphis to a total of 23 agency
locations in 12 states with more to come. Today, Armstrong employs over 1,450 full-time employees and owner-operators, dispatches nearly 500
trucks, and operates over 1,000,000 square feet of warehouse space. As a recognized leader
within the industry, Armstrong is one of the largest hauling and booking agents
within the entire United system of nearly 500 agencies across America. Additionally, Armstrong is
a top quality agent within the United system, being recognized annually for its
performance.
Total Relocation Solutions
The Armstrong Relocation family of companies includes
Primacy Relocation, a full-service
relocation services provider. Having begun in 1991 as a division of Armstrong, Primacy now
has 21 locations across the globe.
Outsourcing solutions provided by Primacy include policy development, home marketing
assistance, home sale assistance, temporary living arrangements, mortgage assistance,
orientation and home finding assistance, international assignment support, relocation
expense management, and policy administration. These solutions typically result in cost
savings, enhanced service levels, and reduction in the burden of internal program
administration.
Armstrong Today
Today, we are recognized as one of the top relocation companies in the
nation in terms of both volume and award-winning service quality. Through our offices nationwide, we currently handle in excess of 20,000 domestic
and international relocations a year. Effective strategic planning and consistent execution
of proven quality service processes have resulted in 50 consecutive years of profitability. These successes provide the foundation for future
expansion and growth of the Armstrong family of companies.
