James T. Watson, Co-Chairman

As the son of James L. Watson, one of Armstrong’s founders, Tom Watson joined Armstrong full-time in 1970. Prior to his Chairmanship, Watson developed the self-pack-and-haul model as Armstrong’s operations leader. Recognized with induction into the Society of Entrepreneurs, receipt of the United Van Lines’ Gene Anderson United Excellence Award and receipt of the University of Memphis Distinguished Alumni Award, his community involvements include leadership positions at University of Memphis (Board of Visitors Chairman, Ambassador and Tiger Club), Memphis Heart Gala, Youth Villages, Make-a-Wish Foundation and Memphis Inter Faith Association. He has a B.A. in Business from University of Memphis. Watson resides with his family in Memphis, Tenn. and enjoys hiking and other outdoor activities, and following University of Memphis sports.

Karen Fields Isaacman, Co-Chairman

As the daughter of Clyde Springer, one of Armstrong’s founders, Karen Fields Isaacman joined Armstrong full time in 2001. Prior to that, she served as Director of Business Development at the Better Business Bureau. Recognized in “50 Women Who Make a Difference in Memphis” and as “Patron of the Year” from the Germantown Arts Alliance for her dedication to the Arts, her community involvements include Orpheum Theatre Memphis Development Foundation (Chairperson) and Wesley Senior Ministries Foundation (Vice-Chairman). She has a bachelor’s degree in marketing and business management from University of Memphis. Isaacman resides with her family in Memphis, Tenn. and enjoys snow skiing, fishing and following University of Memphis sports.

M. Todd Watson, Chief Executive Officer

As the son of Tom Watson, Todd Watson worked at Armstrong during school and joined Armstrong full-time in 1992. As Chief Executive Officer, he provides visionary leadership, sets the tone and determines the direction of the Armstrong family of companies. Prior roles within Armstrong included sales production, operations leadership and development of new service offerings. His community involvements include Boy Scouts of America, Ducks Unlimited and Youth Villages. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance, and organizational behavior and business policy from Southern Methodist University. Watson resides with his family in Memphis, Tenn. and enjoys golf, fitness, travel, concerts and meaningful time with family and friends.

Michael E. Caricato, Chief Operating Officer

Mike Caricato joined Armstrong in 1993. As Chief Operating Officer, he is responsible for strategic planning, leadership development and the daily oversight of the Armstrong family of companies. Caricato served as General Manager of Memphis and President of the Atlanta agency before assuming his current position. Before coming to Armstrong, he served as Systems Analyst for United Van Lines. Caricato holds a B.A. in economics from Drake University and a G.R.E. from Baptist Bible College. A native of Chicago, Ill., Caricato resides in Memphis, Tenn. with his wife and family.

Robert W. Ratton, General Counsel

Bob Ratton joined Armstrong in 1997. In addition to acting as general counsel, he oversees risk management and human resources for the Armstrong family of companies. Prior to joining Armstrong, Ratton was with a large, Memphis-based regional law firm. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Rhodes College, a J.D. from the University of Tennessee and a master of laws degree from New York University. He is admitted to practice in Tennessee and the District of Columbia. A native of Manila, Ark., Ratton resides with his wife in Memphis, Tenn. and enjoys being a pilot, hiking and being occasionally pressed into service to care for his grandchildren.

S. Robert Parks, Chief Financial Officer

Robert Parks joined Armstrong in 1997. As Chief Financial Officer, he is responsible for accounting policies and procedures, financial and tax reporting, capital structure and financial compliance. Prior to Armstrong, Parks was Financial Administrator for Bellevue Baptist Church. He has also held leadership positions in Financial Executives International. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from University of Tennessee at Martin and a master of business administration degree from University of Memphis. He has earned Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant designations and was a finalist for Memphis Business Journal’s CFO of the Year. A native of Tiptonville, Tenn., Parks resides with his family in Memphis, Tenn. and enjoys biking, running, history and University of Tennessee football.

Matthew S. Evans, Senior Vice President of Operations

Matt Evans joined Armstrong in 1995 on a part-time basis, and full-time in 1999. As Senior Vice President of Operations, he is responsible for agency development, operations management and information technology. Prior positions within Armstrong have included being President of Baton Rouge, La. and New Orleans agencies, and Operations Manager. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and in Information System and Decision Sciences from Louisiana State University. Evans resides with his family in Memphis, Tenn. and enjoys hunting, golfing, and LSU football.

Will Abbay
Will Abbay, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Operations and Driver Relations

Will Abbay joined Armstrong in 2000. As Senior Vice President of Enterprise Operations, he is responsible for central planning and van operator relations, developing Armstrong’s strategic approach to capacity fulfillment and other related aspects across the family of companies. Prior positions within Armstrong have included being General Manager and Operations Manager of the Memphis agency. He holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Mississippi State University. A native of Walls, Miss., Abbay resides with his family in Memphis, Tenn. and enjoys exercising, hunting, and farming.

Amanda Watson-Johnson, Executive Vice President

As the daughter of Tom Watson, Amanda Watson-Johnson joined Armstrong in 2004. As the Executive Vice President, she works closely with individuals and companies across all industries, providing customized corporate mobility services, facility relocations, and logistic solutions across the U.S. and around the globe. Prior customer-facing roles within Armstrong have included move coordination, customer service and residential sales. Before coming to Armstrong, she worked in event coordinating and marketing. A native Memphian, Watson-Johnson attended Hutchison School and Lausanne Collegiate School and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Memphis. When not working, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, cooking, entertaining and reading. She resides with her family in Memphis, Tenn.

David R. Nelson, Chief Customer Officer

Dave Nelson joined Armstrong in 1997. As Chief Customer Officer, he is responsible for elevating the customer experience, cultural initiatives and sales growth across all market segments. Prior to Armstrong, Nelson was in regional sales management for a surgical device manufacturer, and had regional field management and consulting capacities for a Fortune 10 company. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management and accounting from Evangel University, and a master of business administration degree from University of Memphis. He has earned multiple designations, including Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Certified Relocation Professional and Global Mobility Specialist. A native of Minneapolis, Minn., Nelson resides with his family in Memphis, Tenn. and enjoys running and mentoring.

Randal S. Vallejo, Vice President of National Accounts

Randy Vallejo joined Armstrong in 2007. As Vice President of National Accounts, he is responsible for sales leadership that develops individual producers and generates client-driven growth. Previous roles within Armstrong included key account retention and quality processes. Prior to Armstrong, Vallejo held leadership positions in domestic and international operations in the food distribution industry and regional sales management in the fleet technology industry. He studied business administration at University of Toledo. A native of Toledo, Ohio, Vallejo resides in Dallas, Texas with his wife and family, and enjoys cycling, traveling and spending time with friends.
